For this Chappaqua, NY project the design pays homage to its natural surroundings. Set on a private lake with meandering rock walls and a warming hut dating back to the 1850’s.

This gut renovation consisted of a new floating staircase and kitchen which opened the floor plan allowing views to be seen at any vantage point. A completely new energy was conceived.

Refined materials and furnishings mix seamlessly with the new modern interior architecture and reclaimed rustic design elements.

Reclaimed wooden slats bestows a distinct texture and warmth, juxtaposed with the cool, modern lines of the industrial staircase and beams. The enormous patterned venetian plastered wall unifies the downstairs living room with with upstairs loft office.

The client wanted a moment that allowed for full immersion in the peaceful surroundings.

This once empty area became a cozy nook with soft textiles to enjoy every season, while drinking a cup of coffee, reading or playing guitar.

Acid finished steel adds character to the American Black Walnut throughout the kitchen. This custom designed breakfast table maximizes the space and serves as another moment to take in the view out of another solarium window.

Birch patterned Venetian plaster brings the outdoors in, adding to the organic modern design.
